National Apprenticeship Week - Charlie, Natalie and Lowri’s Experience

Charlie

I work at Channel 4 within the Audience Research and Insights Department. Alongside my job role, I am progressing through a Level 4 Market Research Executive apprenticeship with Swarm. The apprenticeship is enjoyable and interesting, as I am learning new knowledge through workshop sessions, which I can apply to my job role.

My tutor Suzanne and I have a good relationship, our interactions and sessions have been positive, and questions have been answered professionally and effectively.

I am a huge advocate of apprenticeships, whilst attending school they always told me I ought to attend university to have a successful career. However, after research I discovered that the apprenticeship route was exactly what I wanted. Apprenticeships allow learning to go directly into practice, whilst gaining work experience. I would definitely recommend an apprenticeship with Swarm.

Natalie

The skills that I have align with my new job role, which is really enjoyable and I am pushed to challenge myself. I am progressing through the Level 4 Market Research Executive apprenticeship with Swarm Training. The apprenticeship marries up with my job role, which allows me to transfer my skills gained through the apprenticeship, into my work.

Apprenticeships are completely new to me, previously I studied at university and obtained a degree. But I am enjoying the new way of learning. My tutor Suzanne is constructive and adapts her teaching to my learning style. I prefer independent learning, but I also enjoy our workshops, as the information is stripped back and taught well. Suzanne has remained responsive and helpful throughout the apprenticeship and is always there to answer any questions that I may have.

I absolutely would recommend an apprenticeship. It is great to join new industries and is a good alternative for university. I would recommend an apprenticeship with Swarm.

Advice to anyone looking to get into a market research career, is to stay open minded and think about what you want to gain from it and study your preferred area. As there are multiple different avenues and industries to get into.

Lowri, Line Manager, Channel 4

“My experience with Swarm Training has been a very positive one.  The team is responsive, helpful and staff are always keen to hear thoughts and feedback from an employer’s perspective which I know directly links to the development of new, requested programmes.

A few of our apprentices are undertaking Swarm’s new ‘Advertising, Research & Development’ programme.  We were really pleased to discover such an innovative standard which matched their day job.  Finding creative programmes that marry up to fairly specialist roles at the channel can sometimes be a challenge for us, so we were delighted to partner with Swarm for this pilot. Another apprentice is undertaking Swarm’s Audience, Research & Insights programme. Both programmes are comprehensive, original and are setting up our apprentices for success.”
