National Apprenticeship week -Caitlin and Elizabeth’s Story

At Swarm Training we celebrate success and nurture growth.
National Apprentice Week is a great opportunity to remind ourselves of the success stories; those learners that have grown in confidence, learned new skills, and are now making a valuable contribution to their organisation – like Catlin!

Caitlin is one of our apprentices progressing through the Marketing Executive Level 4 Apprenticeship. Elizabeth is Caitlin’s manager and they work at White Horse Surveyors. Here is their apprenticeship experience so far:

Caitlin - Apprentice

“I am progressing well within my Level 4 Marketing Executive apprenticeship with Swarm Training and my employer, White Horse Surveyors. My tutor Suzanne is very communicative and tailors her teaching approach to suit individual learners. As a visual learner, my preference is to incorporate images, audios, and videos into my learning, which Suzanne provides in our session. The sessions are mixed between workshops with other apprentices taking the same course and 121 sessions.

Before starting my apprenticeship, I attended university to study Creative and Professional Writing. Shortly after graduating, I noticed that most employers require a degree, plus three years of experience in the industry. With an apprenticeship, I was able to start my career whilst gaining the knowledge and experience required.

My advice for those looking to start a career in marketing, is to research all the components within the industry, to discover your preference. I primarily work with social media, but particularly enjoy writing blog posts and creating new graphics.”

 Elizabeth – Line Manager

“Personally, I believe apprenticeships are a great idea! They act as a springboard, giving people the opportunity to gain experience and qualifications. As an employer, apprenticeships allow us to bring new people into the business, who are enthusiastic and have fresh ideas.

Caitlin’s apprenticeship has allowed her to gain background information and core skills, alongside day-to-day activities. Externally she has the Swarm team and her tutor Suzanne to teach the knowledge, skills and behaviours to succeed. Internally she also has a great support system. So, together we can build a strong foundation for Caitlin.

Several online meetings have taken place with Caitlin, Suzanne and I, to discuss Caitlin’s progression within her job role and apprenticeship. Communication with the apprentice, manager and tutor is vital for progression, which we have had with Swarm Training.

Marketing is an evolving industry and is constantly changing. Therefore, it is an exciting industry to work within. Caitlin has attended our company team conference and events with us to record marketing materials. We have created videos, managed presentations and recorded audio, which we have added for team training and on our social media accounts.

Caitlin is a great addition to our team; we look forward to progressing through her apprenticeship with Swarm Training.”
